And those of you who know an accountant probably knows that there's a lot of math involved in keeping track of money. Computers are the ultimate calculators and it was natural for accounting software to be developed. These new accounting programs were called spreadsheets and you can learn more about their history here. What our students need to know is how they can use the Microsoft spreadsheet program Excel for school projects. Basic Excel Skills: Formatting Worksheets - Formatting text, cells, columns and rows Move, Copy, and Pasting - Moving and copying data in a spreadsheet Simple Formulas - Adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing using formulas Making a Chart - Using excel to chart some data.
