Technology Tip Number 176 Guaranteed to be Good PowerPoints Why not take it easy on yourself the next time you have to make a PowerPoint. Use the premade design templates to get a background and slide layout that's guaranteed to look professional. Here's how to do it in the 2003 version of PowerPoint.
If you see a template that you like but you'd prefer to manually adjust the colors you can click "color schemes" at the top of the task pane to do that. The pre-made design templates also come with pre-made animation schemes that you can manually adjust.

Open
a blank PowerPoint presentation and look for the "Design" button on the
toolbar. If the toolbar isn't available you'll have to go to
"View" and then "Toolbars" to bring it up. Check

should bring up the Slide Design options in the Task Pane on the right
hand side of your screen. This is a menu that offers you a
thumbnail version of all the pre-made "design templates" that are
available to you. To select a design template simply double click
on the thumbnail of it.
Finally,
if you don't see any design templates that you like you can select
"Design Templates on Microsoft Office Online" from the bottom of the
thumbnail list. If you have an internet connection you'll be taken
to the Microsoft website where they have design templates for all kinds
of catagories that you can download for free. Follow the link
