If you have never done this you might want to.  Go to http://www.google.com and type in your phone number.  If you pay to be unlisted in the phone book nothing should appear.  However, if you are listed your name and address might appear.  This is a quick way to check on the validity of a phone number that someone gives you but its also a quick way for someone to access some of your personal information.

If your phone number wasn't listed try a phone number that probably is like a company or school.  Click Google Maps, Yahoo Maps or Map Quest and you should get a pretty accurate map.

If this makes you a little uncomfortable you can get your name and phone number off the Google list.  Just click on “Phone Book Removal Form”

While you’re at it you might want to type your own name into Google.com too just to see what comes up. 

PRACTICE ACTIVITY:   Check your phone number and name in Google.com when you get the chance.
